About Me

Welcome to The Book Zone (For Boys), a blog dedicated to books that might appeal to boys of all ages. I have always had a passion for reading, and even now as an adult love reading books written for boys and young adults. I am an Assistant Headteacher and I live in the UK. I have been teaching for fifteen years and have used my position to actively encourage reading for enjoyment, especially where boys are concerned.

I hope to be able to use this blog to share my love of books and raise awareness of the vast wealth of 'boy-friendly' books that have been published since Harry Potter burst onto the scene. When I started this blog back in 2009 I fully intended to review a variety of book, and not necessarily just books that were recently published as there are many easily forgotten gems out there. However, at the time I also didn't realise that publishers would feel my ramblings worthy of being sent books to review so this initial plan has fallen by the wayside a little. I do occasionally (i.e. when I have time) post about books that I read as I was growing up, under a feature I have called My Life That Books Built.

Naturally, many of the books I review will also have great appeal to girls as well - I am certainly not saying they are only for boys, and during the time I have been running the blog I have had many comments from girls, and every one of them is welcome.

So what else will you find on The Book Zone? Author interviews, guest posts and competitions. What you will not find are features like In My Mailbox and Waiting On Wednesday. I understand why some other bloggers love these features but they are simply not my thing. I will also never ask you to follow the blog in order to gain entry to one of my competitions; I would much rather you followed The Book Zone because you are interested in what I have to say.

I hope you enjoy reading my ramblings and that you will come back again (and again). Please feel free to leave comments.
